The amazing underground city
Around this time of year, when the temperature dips to -1 C, it is good to know you can submerge into the corridors and the maze of the underground city. Other cities have tried to construct networks sheltering pedestrians from inclement weather, but the Montreal system, the world's longest and best-known, with its kilometres of corridors and shopping promenades, has clearly managed to pull together all the right conditions to enjoy great popular success.
Some of the hallways, like this one, are so beautifully lit that you could think that you are on a futuristic science-fiction movie set.
